Rated 5 out of 5 by @RGomezPhotos from Top Performer! I use this with a USB 3.0 Type-C Male to Type-A Female adapter on a MacBook and couldn't be happier with the performance.
It'a at least 2x as fast as my previous card reader which too is 3.0 but not SuperSpeed compliant. There are sometimes issues with my older card reader properly disconnecting from my Mac. Not this one. The only way they can improve on this is to have a USB-C cable included with the packaging. I understand why they used the older USB connector because of compatibility. But they can easily have a different model with that cable. Still a 5-star rating.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ron from Super fast, though I miss the metal of the Hoodman Connected to my MSI Pro Gaming Carbon motherboard, I get near max sustained real world speed from my CF card transfers. That is better than I got with the Hoodman Steele USB 3.0, which I upgraded from. So for a 160 MB/sec Sandisk CF card, I get a sustained 120-130 MB/s offload speed, pretty darn fast.
Saves much time after a wedding. I do use the SD slot occasionally and the micro SD card, but I never use the Sony Memory Card slot on the back. It would be very inconvenient plus I don't have any of those cards thankfully. It's just light and flakey a bit compared the the aluminum shell of the Hoodman Steel. Rated 5 out of 5 by C. Pena from Suites my needs.
I have never used a card reader, but this one performs extremely well. You just plug it in, insert your card, and off you go. From my experience it is fast, pulling/placing files can be done in a snap, and it is great for multitasking. It has a smaller cord, no complaints though, which makes it easy to place next to your workspace without taking a lot of space. This is one of the most durable devices I've used in a while, it is not cheaply made, very lightweight. I would recommend this product for your day to day needs.
